How Do I...?

Get started?

  • Take the three hour Introduction class which covers basic operation of the machines, lab safety and Fab Lab rules and operation.   Additional advanced courses are planned.

Use the Fab Lab?

  • After completion of the Introduction class, participants have access to the lab during normal operating hours.  Since the Introduction class only covers the basics of the Fab Lab, there will be a staff person or volunteer in the lab during lab hours to help users and teach them more detailed operation of the equipment.

Become a volunteer?

  • The Fab Lab is always looking for volunteers to aid users with software and equipment.  Contact Bill Werneke at 443-840-4401 or wwerneke@ccbcmd.edu if interested.

General Fab Lab Information

Remember, the purpose of the Fab Lab is to make prototypes or small individualized special projects.  It is not a production facility. A prototype creates a working model of an idea so it can be tested and proven prior to being sent to a production shop.  There are a variety of types of software in the lab to help users with the design portion of the prototype.  The equipment can then be used to create the prototype out of various types of materials.
