The TIME Center at the Community College of Baltimore County is improving skills of technicians and the educators who teach them.
The TIME Center has encouraged instructors to learn more about the CCBC Fab Lab and find ways to integrate the use of the Fab Lab with current instruction. The Interior Design program, part of the Art Design and Interactive Media program has made the great use of the Fab Lab with their current courses. See the video about how these programs will continue to be creative and innovative.
The TIME Center grant did not receive approval for additional funds during the last NSF grant cycle. Team members continue to seek other grant funded opportunities and are currently meeting with the Maryland Community Colleges; the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulations (DLLR); the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED); and various Maryland manufacturing organizations to discuss options in order to continue their work. Current funds will be expended by June 30, 2014.
The 2014 United States Fab Lab Network (USFLN) Symposium will be hosted by the Community College of Baltimore College, April 7 -9. The event will be held at the Conference Center at the Maritime Insitute. There will be guest speakers, presentations, vendor demos, and tours of the CCBC Fab Lab. Go to the USFLN website for registration and lodging information.
